This fashion portrait study by Austrian photographer Albert von Rothschild, a prominent member of the Rothschild banking family of Austria and accomplished pictorial photographer active with the Vienna Camera Club, shows a woman wearing an unusual full-face birdcage style veil. Titled simply Portrait-Studie within the lower plate margin, this vintage hand-pulled, Chine-collé photogravure was printed in 1897 and included in the important German publication Die Kunst in der Photographie.
Condition: Very Good, with issues.
Although image is very fine with no foxing, there is scattered foxing to margins of plate along with a slight crease to midsection of photograph. There is a large dog-eared, top right stained corner, bumping to lower margin corners and a 1.5 cm closed tear midway on left plate margin. Please inspect both photographs with listing.
