A woman clutching a bundle of firewood stands in the middle of a forest path in the early morning light. Originally titled Sous Bois, this photograph may have been taken by the French painter Gilbert de Séverac. (1834-1897) This photograph was published as a large plate collotype and included in the important publication: L’Art Photographique, published for only one year between 1899-1900. Condition: Good, but with issues.

Circular L’ART PHOTOGRAPHIQUE blindstamp present at lower right corner of image and plate; bumping and losses to corners and stains to margins; tack hole in each corner; foxing to plate. Please inspect both photographs with listing. (please email if you require additional photos)
